Pele Writes Off Comparisons Between Limited Lionel Messi & Himself

In an exclusive interview with Brazilian news daily Folha de S.Paulo, Pele has revealed that he doesn't believe Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the best footballer in the world given that he only has one skill.

The fact Messi has redefined the game using primarily his left foot and body feints while possessing a smaller stature is surely testament to his true greatness.

Football legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé has stated that he is out of the league of five-time Ballon d'Or victor, Lionel Messi and there is no basis for comparison.

"How can you compare?"

"How are you going to compare someone who headed well and kicked a football with his left and right foot with someone who only used one foot, only had one skill and didn't head well?", Pele asked.

Messi finished fifth in the 2018 Ballon d'Or awards held on Monday, behind players like Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezman.

Pele also said fellow Brazilian Neymar is a "better player" than France's World Cup victor, Kylian Mbappe. "They were all excellent players". For me Maradona was one of the best.

Introduced by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban in the 1949 movie Neptune's Daughter , the song " Baby It's Cold Outside " is a date rape song, Doug Wighton of Mississauga writes.

"[Franz] Beckenbauer, [Johan] Cruyff are also better.

Messi at Barcelona is one thing and with Argentina he is another one".

Pelé even praised Diego Maradona,"You will ask me", the Brazilian said, "was [Maradona] better than Messi?" Won the world Cup. "I talked to him, I told him that in football, he's got it".

Pele tallied over 1,000 career goals and won three World Cups, but it doesn't mean that Messi shouldn't be compared to him.

"I scored more goals than my father". We talked and I told him: 'In soccer, God gave you a gift, but what you did is what made it hard.

"I spoke with him and reminded him of his ability", said Pele, who went on to ponder on nascent football stars and French player Kylian Mbappe, among others.
