Frenkie de Jong issues statement ahead of January transfer window

De Telegraaf reported on Thursday night that PSG are set to seal a deal for Frenkie de Jong in the summer, paying Ajax €75 million.

De Jong revealed in an interview with The Guardian recently that he could be leaving the Johann Cruyff Arena.

Ajax reportedly placed a £75m value on the in-demand midfielder in a bid to warn off suitors.

However, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraph, the 21-year-old is likely to join PSG after the Ligue 1 club outbid City for his services.

De Jong told the Manchester Evening News earlier this week that he wants to finish this season well with Ajax.

Manchester City needs someone to replace the ageing Fernandinho.

He quickly took on a broader range of responsibility than Priebus had, requiring all White House staffers to answer to him. The move could be announced at a scheduled White House dinner tonight with Trump and senior White House staff.

The 21-year-old midfielder has become one of Europe's most sought after products after starring for the Eredivisie side over the past year.

Despite his new starring role on the global scene and interest from Europe's elite clubs, De Jong is still focusing on the job at hand with his current club.

De Jong made the move to Ajax from Willem II in 2016, where he won the Jupiter League Talent of the Season in 2016-17 for the club's reserve team Jong Ajax.

"I like to watch the great players, the ones who are technically good and understand the game", De Jong added. Then we will see. "In the winter I will not leave anyway". But I am not sure.

De Jong is well aware of the intense speculation surrounding his future but has insisted he's not letting it sidetrack him in any way.

"The dark blue jersey of France's upcoming champions PSG, not the light blue one of Manchester City, will nearly certainly become De Jong's next summer", the paper said. I hear the stories but I just want to finish this season well'.
