But Wilder and Fury have certainly stolen a little bit of Joshua's shine by taking part in an all-time great heavyweight title fight.

"I was sparring, just getting ready and I was getting the best of my sparring partner", Wilder explained. "They felt like they was the only people in boxing, in the heavyweight division, that people cared about".

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder with referee Jack Reiss after fighting to a draw during the WBC Heavyweight Championship in Los Angeles, on December 1, 2018.

The fight capped a remarkable comeback from Fury who gave up his world titles after a battle with drugs and mental health issues.

However the 33-year-old Wilder on Tuesday rejected that claim in the strongest possible terms, saying a rematch with Fury was his priority rather than a unification bout with WBA, IBF and WBO champion Anthony Joshua. "I wanted more than anything to show the world it can be done", he added. He don't even know how he got up.

"I barely threw any [right hand] punches my whole entire camp". Wilder made believers out of doubters by uncorking what we all thought was a fight-ending left hand in the 12th round.

"He's my favourite fighter and in my opinion the best heavyweight there has ever been", said Tommy.

"If he can conquer all what he has done, then I can conquer anything and it's the same to everybody out there, whatever you want to achieve in life you can achieve it". They felt like they was the only ones that was running this sport. "Nine out of 10 refs would have waved that off".

Lou DiBella, Wilder's promoter, is a big WWE fan, and Fury's ability to beat the count reminded him of a particular wrestler.

"When you coming in here fighting the champion, you've got to be dominant. And that 20 seconds right there is a million buys in the next pay-per-view".

While Saturday's fight was ruled by a draw, Wilder said the sport of boxing, particularly in the USA was a victor.

"Both sides definitely want (a rematch) to happen". We are not here to get a 100-0 record. Tyson was robbed of a historical moment, he is the people's champion, we will put it right.

"It's up to him and I believe that's how he wants it".

"Phone me up, let's sit down and make this fight happen".

Frank Warren wants to work with Eddie Hearn to make a huge domestic heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. "It's all very well to keep talking about it, but at the end of the day, do the Hearns want to kill their cash cow?".
