Mortal Kombat 11 Announced, Launches April 23, 2019

Mortal Kombat 11 is real and it's real bloody.

Ed Boon, figurehead of Netherealm Studios and the father of the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, was invited to The Game Awards to present the award for the best sports/racing title of 2018.

As you can see from the video above, a familiar blood tipped harpoon smashes through the presentation screen and we are treated to a lightning version of the familiar Dragon Logo for Mortal Kombat, sending the crowd into a frenzy at The Game Awards and millions watching around the world via livestream.

Warner Bros has released the first screenshots for Mortal Kombat 11, showing Scorpion and Raiden; the two characters that were featured in the game's debut trailer. If you haven't heard of it, that's because it's an original, as announced on the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account.

For the festive occasion, Pippa, who welcomed her son Arthur in October, wore a stunning burgundy coat with a fur collar.

The all new Custom Character Variations give you unprecedented control to customise the fighters and make them your own. While the new addition to the franchise offers a wide range of new and returning Klassic characters, the graphics engine promises to enhance more than ever, every minute detail of the violence that the game is known for.

A community reveal event is slated for January 17th to see what's next for Netherealm Studios and Mortal Kombat 11, with a full release now keyed in for April 23rd, although whether it's available day and date on PC is one important bit of information we can hope Netherealm can share in the near future.

The game is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on April 23, 2019.
