Neil DeGrasse Tyson Under Investigation Over Sexual Misconduct Claims

"Cosmos" host Neil deGrasse Tyson is being investigated by Fox and National Geographic after three women accused the celebrity astrophysicist of sexual misconduct, including one rape allegation.

On Thursday, two more women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct.

"Accusations can damage a reputation and a marriage". Sometimes irreversibly. I see myself as loving husband and as a public servant - a scientist and educator who serves at the will of the public.

Last on Saturday (Dec 1), Tyson posted a lengthy response to the allegations on Facebook.

She told Patheos that she did not report the incident, which she says occurred at a social event after a 2009 meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS), because she didn't think the society had a mechanism for reporting sexual harassment.

According to Allers, Tyson wanted to know if Pluto appeared in her tattoo.

She told writer David C. McAfee: "My experience with him is he's not someone who has great respect for female bodily autonomy". A sequel, with Tyson again set to host, is set to premiere next year on Fox and sister cable channel National Geographic. Allers said that Tyson seemed fascinated by her tattoo, a portrayal of the solar system that stretches along her arms and wraps around her upper torso. She agreed to meet him for a glass of wine, feeling she really couldn't tell her boss a flat no on the invitation. However, the other woman said she quit her job due to Tyson's alleged sexual advances. He later spoke about how all people needed "release" and asked what hers was.

Tyson said their only physical interaction was a handshake he said he learned from a Native elder that he considered special, he wrote. When Watson made a decision to leave, deGrasse Tyson apparently wanted to perform an intimate handshake in which each person feels the other's pulse.

The third accuser, Tchiya Amet, claimed in a 2014 blog that while she was studying at the University of Texas in Austin in the galactic astronomy program with deGrasse Tyson, he drugged and raped her.

"I woke up in his bed; I was naked..."
