Investigators tracked a kidnapped girl across multiple states and found her safe in Oklahoma, 900 miles (1,448 kilometers) from her North Carolina home.

Jacob Gardea, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is facing abduction charges in North Carolina.

Authorities say a man is being held on charges after he was allegedly found with a missing 13-year-old child from North Carolina.

The sheriff's office listed her missing person's alert as being under an "extreme" level of severity, used when there's "extraordinary threat to life or property".
