Cleveland Browns: Hue Jackson looks to stop Browns again

"I have a great comfort level with Hue and his ability to assist me with the day-to-day responsibilities on defense, including analyzing our opponents and helping me on game days with the players and defensive coaches", Lewis said in a statement.

Former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson didn't have to wait long to find a new employer. But also, with two games to play against the Browns this season, Jackson will play a big role in how the Bengals look to approach their rival.

Lewis has taken over Cincinnati's defensive play-calling, following Monday's firing of defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, and Jackson is expected to help direct the offense.

Lewis laughed and smiled when reporters followed up and asked if Jackson could come in and help.

"I hadn't had to do that a lot", Lewis said. Jackson will be "in Cincinnati imminently" to join the Bengals' staff, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Last week, Jerry Jones proclaimed that he was going to give Prescott a contract extension despite the critics. Instead they lost 27-20 to fall to 4-5 and now trail the NFC East-leading Redskins (6-3) by two games.

It's no secret that Jackson and Lewis have a fondness for each other that dates back many years.

Jackson came to the Browns after serving as the offensive coordinator in Cincinnati under Lewis.

"I'm not going to make a headline", he said at the time. He was running the show in Cleveland for two and a half seasons, and in that time, the Browns compiled a record of just 3-36-1.

Forrmer Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson will get a chance to go against his former team twice this season with the Bengals.

The length and details of Jackson's contract in Cincinnati have not been disclosed.
