Zaman & Afridi star in Pakistan's 6-wkt win over New Zealand

New Zealand on Friday won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in second one-day global of three-match series in Abu Dhabi.

New Zealand, who won the toss and opted to bat, managed 209-9 in their 50 overs in the second day-night worldwide against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Worker ate up 50 balls for his 28.

Fakhar and Babar Azam (46) put on 101 before Pakistan set up a series-decider in Dubai on Sunday, ending a run of 12 consecutive ODI defeats against the Black Caps with nearly 10 overs to spare.

The visitors were in a precarious situation at 73-4 but a 75-run stand for the fifth wicket between Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls averted the risk of being dismissed for a low total.

Wickets at regular intervals put a squeeze on scoring, with 18-year-old Shaheen Afridi superb in taking 4-38, but once again, the Black Caps' biggest problems came while facing spin. Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee scored 13 runs each. They limped to 209/9 in their fifty overs, a target that seemed a breeze for Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam.

"He's also a handy batsman down the order, as he showed with his half-century in the most recent round of the Ford Trophy".

At the end of 20 overs, New Zealand were 82 for 4 and finding it extremely hard to score freely against the slow bowlers. Even the dismissal of Fakhar, top-edging a pull, after his run-a-ball 88 with 11 fours and Babar's upper cut held at third man, following his 46 off 50 balls with 5 fours, in the same Ferguson over, failed to change anything.

Just after Pakistan registered two back-to-back whitewashes against Australia and New Zealand in T20I series, it allowed New Zealand to stretch its winning streak against it in ODIs to 12 two days ago.
