Just 3 minutes after Reus' goal, Robert Lewandowski scored another goal to provide the lead for his team once again, but Marco Reus again leveled the scores in the 67th minute of the encounter.

The dramatic match saw Dortmund snatch the victor through Paco Alcacer in the 73rd minute after Marco Reus' either side of Robert Lewandowski's double had brought Dortmund level.

Seven points clear of third-placed Bayern Munich, Dortmund hold a four-point lead over second-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Dortmund are now four points clear at the top of the table and seven points ahead of the Bavarians.

"It was a great game and I have to congratulate my players", said Dortmund coach Lucien Favre.

"We should have been more compact and unfortunately we lost a game which should have been a draw", he added after Robert Lewandowski had two second-half goals disallowed for offside. Bayern Munich have won six league titles in a row.

Pep Guardiola's side has won each of their last six games in all competitions, including netting six goals in their last two. He has tried painting too "but I'm not very good at it" he said with a laugh.

Bayern, whose last failure to win a match after leading twice by a goal came 18 years ago, could drop to fourth on Sunday if RB Leipzig beat Bayer Leverkusen.

"We allowed ourselves to be beaten twice on the counter, that shouldn't have happened", said Kovac.

Reus missed good chances to score, but Alcacer, who came on with half an hour remaining, scored in the 73rd minute after Axel Witsel split the Bayern defense with a ideal through ball.

Bayern took a deserved lead when Serge Gnabry curled in a cross for Lewandowski to power a header past stand-in Dortmund goalkeeper Marwin Hitz on 26 minutes.

The hosts then laid siege to the Bayern box, with Reus and Alcacer wasting golden chances, before Reus making amends with his eighth goal of the season, an unstoppable one-touch missile that left keeper Neuer frozen to the spot.

Lewandowski, who'd had a goal ruled out for offside, had an injury-time equalizer ruled out through VAR, again for offside.
