Paramount Ranch's Western Town Has Reportedly Burned

When not in use for filming, visitors could stroll through Western Town while hiking or riding through on horseback.

Paramount Ranch, which served as a filming location for almost 500 films and television shows over the years, is the latest casualty of the wildfires that are now sweeping across California.

Westworld has also had scenes shot at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, and other locations, including Utah as well. We don't have details or photos, but it's our understanding that the structures have all burned.

"Westworld is not now in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there", HBO said in a statement.

Paramount Ranch's Western town, first started in 1927, has been used in a number of productions throughout the years, including films American Sniper, Norbit, The Love Bug, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer as well as TV series The Mentalist, Weeds, and Quickdraw. It was also used as the setting for the television show "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" from 1992 to 1997. On the show, it served as the town of Escalante, which was a beta-testing location within the Westworld park.

Paramount Ranch was one of the locations used during seasons one and two of Westworld, in addition to the primary location at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita.

HBO told The Wrap that no cast or crew was at the Paramount Ranch location when it burned down. Westworld is not now in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there. HBO said it did not know the extent of the damage and expressed concern for "all those affected by these frightful fires".

While the show has taken quite a different direction in the season two finale and it is still unclear if they were planning to shoot there in season three, the set is still iconic, and it's a pity what happened!
