Disney Announces Its Own Streaming Service, Will Pull Content From Netflix

As if it wasn't exciting enough that the spin-off series is even happening, hearing the news that Diego Luna (who played Andor in the film) is reprising his role for the show is better still.

With that said, it adds a lot more pressure for Netflix to keep their viewers occupied with great content. Disney has huge fanbases with Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and more that they can tap into.

Luna said in a statement that the format would be a chance to "explore this character more deeply".

Luna, who will next be seen in Netflix's Narcos: Mexico, has signed on to reprise the role of Andor. Jon Favreau is now developing another Star Wars-based show, The Mandalorian - which, going by the title alone, sounds pretty cool. Instead, it sounds like we'll see five (or six) services in one, with each brand getting its own microsite within Disney+ as a whole, each with its own unique UI.

Disney co-owns Hulu with 21st Century Fox, AT&T and Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.

'Germany, France, Britain, US and Saudi Arabia listened to Khashoggi tapes'
Erdoğan also called on Saudi officials to do their part to reveal the unanswered parts of the dissident journalist's murder. Turkish sources have said previously that authorities have an audio recording purportedly documenting the murder.

Based upon the Star Wars standalone movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Disney has officially announced that a live-action prequel TV series will be developed for the Disney streaming service. There's no word on a release date yet, nor do we know if Darth Vader might appear, crushing larynxes and making quips.

The expansive slate is now being announced little by little, with the most recent reveal confirming Tom Hiddleston's return as Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an original series of his own.

The luxury resort, announced at D23 Expo 2017, will completely immerse guests into an authentic Star Wars story at Walt Disney Resort-and that immersion will start the moment guests arrive!

"We're going into the marketplace, we're seeing disruption, and hopefully we're reacting to it in a timely matter", Iger said, explaining that Disney is looking to "take advantage" of the volatility in the television market.

So even if Disney yanks its current slate of films and shows from Netflix, as expected, the original programming is what will matter. Rogue One was directed by Gareth Edwards, with Tony Gilroy stepping in to help get the movie in shape during reshoots.
