But without knowing what caused the problem yet, we can at least take solace in the fact that Microsoft did fix it very quickly.

Microsoft would dearly like the last remaining Windows 10 Mobile users to disappear, and they are doing everything they can to encourage them to move to a different mobile platform. But don't panic, your license is still good.

Following investigation into the issue, Microsoft's Jeff Jones issued a statement to press: 'A limited number of customers experienced an activation issue that our engineers have now addressed, ' he claimed early this morning. This issue does not appear to be isolated and is impacting a significant number of users.

One of those affected reported that a Microsoft support agent said the firm was aware of the problem affecting users in Japan, Korea, America and other countries.

So, in the event your license got deactivated on its own, just leave it as is and your PC should automatically get activated as soon as Microsoft fixes the activation server issue.

"Try going to Settings Update & security Activation, and then select Troubleshoot to run the Activation Troubleshooter and seeing if this gets you activated", LeBlanc said. These were legal copies of Windows, but the message stated Windows 10 needed to be reverted back to the Home edition or the user could purchase a genuine copy of the operating system to continue using the more feature-rich versions. They are reporting that the Activation status of their Windows 10 changed from Activated to Not activated. Others at the company have speculated that this might be a timezone issue, hopefully, Microsoft posts a triage of the outage once it is resolved.
