"Things was just starting to heat up for me", Bryant said on Twitter a few hours after the injury.

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant's stint with the New Orleans Saints might be over before it started as the team fears he tore his Achilles tendon on the last play of practice Friday, per multiple reports.

The 30-year-old signed with the Saints on Wednesday following a workout in New Orleans a day earlier.

He is getting an MRI and the club is awaiting more information. Per Schefter, the Saints could turn to Brandon Marshall, who also worked out for the team along with Bryant recently.

Bryant was originally planning to make his Saints debut in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's up in the air whether he will play at all this season.

This potential injury throws a wrench in Bryant's return to football - and not just for the 2018 season.
