Death Toll Rises To Nine As California Wildfires Continue

The fast-moving Hill fires started near the community of Thousand Oaks, which was in the midst of grappling with the Wednesday night shooting that killed 12 at the Borderline nightclub.

The Camp fire swept through Paradise, California, on Thursday, with officials saying at least 1,000 structures were destroyed.

The remains of five of the victims in Northern California were discovered in or near burned out cars, three outside residences and one inside a home, Butte County's Honea said.

In Southern California, low humidity combined with strong offshore Santa Ana winds prompted the National Weather Service to issue an "extremely critical" fire weather alert, its highest warning for wildfire risk.

The entire city of Malibu, a well-known celebrity hotspot, has been put under a mandatory evacuation order, as multiple homes are reported to have been scorched in Westlake Village and Oak Park with the Woolsey fire now estimated to have spread to 35,000 acres.

A combination of profoundly dry vegetation and heavy winds are contributing to the fire's explosive pattern.

After shuffling schedules for the firefighters who would remain, UFA made a decision to send 11 people and three fire crews.

More than 2,200 firefighters were battling the blaze, backed up by helicopters and water tankers.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department tweeted that the fire raging through the Santa Monica Mountains was headed to the ocean.

Researchers Create Bionic Mushroom with Graphene and 3D Printed Cyanobacteria
To make their odd bionic mushroom a reality, worldwide scientists printed an "electronic ink" containing graphene nanoribbons. If the mushroom was shining in the sun or bulb, it produces the desired amount of electricity , namely 65 microamps.

The actor said his "nervous" daughter Willow, 18, asked him to go and have a look outside as the Woolsey wildfire, which is now 14,000 acres and being fed by strong winds and dry conditions, creeps closer to their home.

Paradise, which has a population of 26,000, has also been struck badly, with the blaze having grown to almost 140sq miles and destroyed around 6,500 structures.

Lady Gaga fled her home early in the morning.

She can be heard in an Instagram clip comforting someone saying "It's going to be okay" as the smoke billows above them.

The lull Saturday would give firefighters a chance to control the edges of the blaze and to swap fire crews, replacing firefighters who had worked for two days without rest, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby said.

That assessment was echoed by Scott McLean, a spokesperson for CALFIRE, who told the Los Angeles Times that the Camp Fire "has destroyed the town". "My home is in jeopardy but. everything with a heartbeat is safe", she said. Evacuation orders included the entire city of Malibu, which is home to 13,000, among them some of Hollywood's biggest stars. According to Ventura County Fire Department, the county and Los Angeles County have been evacuated or are being evacuated of 148,000 residents.

"Our scientists and toxicologists have reviewed information about the fire's location and do not believe the fire has caused any releases of hazardous materials that would pose a risk to people exposed to the smoke", the statement read.

"This fire moved so fast and grew so fast a lot of people got caught by it".
