BTS Gig On Japanese TV Canceled Over Member's Atomic Bomb T-Shirt

BTS Gig On Japanese TV Canceled Over Member's Atomic Bomb T-Shirt

The vague wording of Music Station's statement that "as a program, wanted to ask him his mentality in wearing it" leaves it unclear as to whether producers merely wanted a behind-closed-doors discussion before agreeing to have BTS on the show, or whether they were demanding to be allowed to ask Jimin, live on air, about his wardrobe choice. "A t-shirt design worn by a [BTS] member caused a controversy", it stated.

BTS apologised for the cancellation but made no reference to the T-shirt.

The T-shirt featured an image of the mushroom cloud of an atomic bomb as well as the words, "Patriotism", "Our History" "Liberation" and "Korea".

A BTS Japan fan site also announced their appearance had been postponed, along with an apology to fans who had been looking forward to the broadcast. Despite IZ*ONE's successful debut stage on KBS's ' Music Bank' last week, some netizens are still petitioning the girl group's promotions on the station; the government petition demanding a ban on IZ*ONE from appearing on public broadcast station programs now has approximately 30,000 signatures.

Cardinals reportedly not all that interested in Bryce Harper
The 2015 National League MVP, Harper hit.249 last season with 34 home runs and 100 RBIs as the Nationals missed the playoffs. Importantly for any future negotiations, Harper's deal would not be the largest in baseball history by average annual value.

The shirt is still available for purchase online. Jimin is reported to have worn the t-shirt on the anniversary of the end of the occupation in August, but the images went viral this week. "This group is making fun of the atomic bombings".

The top features an image of an atomic bomb explosion, which social media users have suggested shows either the bombing of Hiroshima or Nagasaki in the Second World War. "You guys made the wrong move this time".

BTS members gave a speech to youths of the world in September asking them to, "Love yourself", at a UNICEF meeting at United Nations headquarters in NY, which became a hot campaign.

Earlier this week, a South Korean court ordered a Japanese company to compensate them for wartime labour during Japan's colonial rule of the Korean peninsula. With the Japanese government maintaining that all matters of compensation were settled through a treaty in 1965, political tension is high between the two countries.
