Fossil Sport puts latest Wear 3100 chip in colorful smartwatch

With that processor, Fossil says that we can expect a 24 hour lifespan from the Sport's 350mAh battery, which is larger than some previous smartwatch models the company has offered.

Fossil's watches are typically designed with fashion in mind, but the Sport is all about being as functional as can be. Fossil's latest, the Fossil Sport, is another Google Wear OS smartwatch, But it adds Qualcomm's newest 3100 wearable chip for what could mean longer battery life. There's also a new battery saving mode, bringing an additional two days of telling the time in an "ambient mode".

The array of sensors included with the Fossil Sport Smartwatch includes Global Positioning System, heart rate, NFC, altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, and ambient light. This is pretty standard for Fossil smartwatches.

In terms of design, the Sport will come in six different colors (silver, blue, red, gold, rose gold and grey) over two case sizes of 41mm and 43mm.

U.S. says 'closely following' on journalists held in Tanzania
South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) said the two journalists are back in their hotel. We don't know why. "Details and reasons for the detention are still not clear".

And, naturally, the whole show will continue to run on Google's Wear OS platform, which was recently given a makeover in order to improve day-to-day usability.

Interested? You can buy the Fossil Sport right now from Fossil.com for $255, or from Fossil retail stores beginning Monday, November 12.

I think Fossil is offering a pretty compelling package at this price point, especially considering the hardware and newer chipset.
