Arsenal qualified for the Europa League knockout stage with a 0-0 draw against Sporting at The Emirates, although striker Danny Welbeck was carried off on a stretcher in the first half with a serious ankle injury.

Reigning Scottish champions Celtic gave themselves a lifeline in Group B, as Odsonne Edouard´s 79th-minute strike saw them beat RB Leipzig 2-1 in their must-win clash at Parkhead.

"His commitment with us is very big".

There was no immediate comment from the club on the seriousness of the injury to Welbeck, whose contract with the north London side ends at the end of the 2018-19 season.

"When you are playing football, when you are playing in competitive matches, it can happen".

"The objective is for him to come back to us and grow up with us after this experience".

The game only really opened up in the 88th minute when Jeremy Mathieu was shown a straight red for a foul on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the striker raced through on goal.

Some of his team-mates were also visibly affected by the incident.

"The point isn't enough for us but at the moment our target is to be first in this group", he said.

"We want to use the players that we think are right for each match, and think about the next one". "We are following him every match and know he will help us in the future".

Following on from the USA game, which will be the DC United star's only appearance, England will face off against Croatia in their final group match of the UEFA Nations League.
