The midterms show Trump might not get re-elected in 2020

"Mia Love gave me no love and she lost", Trump said.

President Trump kicked-off a lengthy post-midterm news conference on Wednesday touting gains his party made in the US Senate that bucked historical trends.

On Tuesday, voters handed Democrats the House of Representatives - and may have also rendered a verdict on President Trump's signature tax cuts. "I want to probe senior administration officials across the government who have abused their positions of power and wasted taxpayer money, as well as President Trump's decisions to act in his own financial self-interest".

Two other key Democratic lawmakers, Elijah Cummings of Maryland, who will nearly certainly head the House Oversight Committee, and Adam Schiff of the Intelligence Committee, have both called for new oversight of Trump and his administration, probes often blocked by majority Republicans in the past two years.

A Democratic House isn't going to put the United States back in the Iranian nuclear accord or the Paris climate agreement, and is unlikely to challenge Trump's protectionist line on trade. "I don't want to comment on that, otherwise I will run the risk of being accused of interfering in their midterm election", foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.

He said that he could work with Democrats on issues such as infrastructure and health care, but that if they conduct investigations into his administration, "then we're going to do the same thing, then government comes to a halt and I blame them".

"But Mia Love gave me no love". Trump called the investigation "a disgrace", saying it "should never have been started, because there is no crime". "Yesterday was such a very Big Win, and all under the pressure of a Nasty and Hostile Media!" "That is possible", he told a news conference at the White House. "You can't do them both", he said. "When you report fake news, which CNN does a lot, you are the enemy of the people".

Trump said that he was considering changes to his administration in the aftermath of the election, including to his cabinet. He said he would be happy to help "supply her the necessary votes".

Comparing how many of each party's women candidates won their seats, the Democratic women were more successful, particularly in the Senate and House races.

The girls added that not taking part puts Posh in a very unique position: "She is very excited for us, and it's going to be odd ". Geri, Mel C , Mel B and Emma will be embarking on the group's first tour since 2007-2008's reunion tour next year.

Republicans are expected to retain their slight majority in the US Senate, now at two seats, which would let them retain the power to approve US Supreme Court and other judicial nominations on straight party-line votes.

In the Rustbelt/Midwest Democrats won Senate races in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wyoming by large margins; and also won governor's races in and Michigan and Minnesota by very large margins.

Neal is just one of a number of House Democrats in leadership positions who could deliver subpoenas or start investigations of Trump's finances, business dealings and ties to Russian Federation.

The House Judiciary Committee will focus on whether Trump fired FBI Director James Comey because Comey declined to go easy on Mike Flynn - the president's friend and national security adviser - as Comey has said the president demanded.

The results, Trump argued, were proof of his ability to turn out voters. The 30-second spot featured courtroom video of an illegal immigrant from Mexico convicted in the 2014 killings of two police officers, juxtaposed with scenes of migrants headed through Mexico. "We have to make sure that we are advancing a common sense majority platform that America wants, and let's hope that we can bring Republicans aboard with us".

I could not be prouder of the organization we built together.

Pelosi, who is likely to return as House speaker despite opposition from some centrist Democrats, promised that the party will serve as a counterweight - but also work with Trump.

Men, meanwhile, were about evenly split, with 50 percent voting for Republicans to 48 percent choosing Democrats. Perhaps with this in mind, Trump tweeted: "In all fairness, Nancy Pelosi deserves to be chosen Speaker of the House by the Democrats". In elections for Congress, governorships and state legislatures alike, the number of women who ran outstripped previous years, as did the number of women nominated.
