Driver charged in toddler deaths in crosswalk kills herself

The woman who had been charged with striking and killing Broadway star Ruthie Ann Miles' and her friend Lauren Lew's children with her vehicle has been found dead in her home from an apparent suicide.

Dorothy Bruns, 44, was discovered in her Staten Island home along with pills and a note, a senior law enforcement official told NBC 4 NY. They say pills and a note were found nearby.

Bruns was facing manslaughter charges after hitting the two children and their mothers in Park Slope in March. Miles, Lew and another pedestrian were all injured in the crash and Miles, who was seven months pregnant at the time, suffered a miscarriage months later due to injuries she sustained that day, according to NBC 4 NY.

When the crash occurred in March, Bruns had allegedly been driving her vehicle westbound on 9th street when she allegedly ran a red light and struck a group of pedestrians, including Miles, Lew, and their children.

She had been repeatedly warned not to drive by doctors after suffering a previous medical episode.

Ron DeSantis Won Florida Governor's Race by Tying Himself to Trump
The stark differences between the two candidates and the negative nature of the race were crystallized in two vitriolic debates. And since DeSantis fully embraced Trumpism, Hume insisted the the president could be responsible for the congressman's defeat.

Burns was freed on $75,000 bond in September. She had been due back in court November 20.

She died eight months after running over and killing five year-old Abigail Blumenstein and 20 month-old Joshua Lew at a Brooklyn crosswalk in March, CBS2 reported.

On March 5, Bruns was behind the wheel of her vehicle when she fatally hit two children in a Brooklyn crosswalk and caused a woman to lose her unborn child. Abigail died and her mother, who was 39 weeks pregnant at the time, was injured. A one-year-old child was also killed in the horrific crash.

Miles took home a Tony award in 2015 for best featured actress for her performance in "The King And I".
