Marsha Blackburn vying to become Tennessee's first female U.S. Senator

"The Fox News Decision Desk can now project that Republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn will defeat former Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen to replace retiring GOP Senator Bob Corker".

The race made headlines in the entertainment world last month, when pop singer Taylor Swift endorsed Bredesen, but speculation of a "Taylor Swift" effect that would motivate young voters to tip the race to the Democrat appeared unfounded. These are not MY Tennessee values.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., speaks to supporters after she was declared the victor over former Gov. Phil Bredesen in their race for the U.S. Senate Nov. 6, 2018, in Franklin, Tenn.

USA midterm elections: How they work and what to expect
Trump is stressing Senate contests like Indiana's after sending signals that maintaining the House may be out of reach. The president's event in the the Buckeye state will be followed by rallies in IN and Missouri.

While the race was in a dead heat, Blackburn's poll numbers began to rise not long after President Donald Trump came to the state to promote her among MAGA supporters. Bredesen's moderate stances, he predicted, would give these voters an easy excuse not to vote for her. They held a rally for her on Sunday in Chattanooga at McKenzie Arena. The September fight to confirm Kavanaugh significantly boosted Blackburn, who took her first lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average in early October. She rarely diverged from Trump, and touted his proposed U.S. -Mexico border wall and tax cuts while blasting Bredesen's opposition to both.

"I think any other Democrat would be behind by 15 to 20 points", said Anthony Nownes, a professor at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

'I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. "Marsha Blackburn wants it to be a national referendum on Trump and Bredesen wants to deal with local Tennessee issues and solving problems". She's a tremendous woman'.
