Ariana Grande fans are speculating whether the singer secretly released a whole album under a different identity.

There is no response to the rumours from the star.

It was available on at least three different streaming services, but has since disappeared. So half an hour before the latest episode of SNL started, Grande put her new single out into the world, and it nearly immediately became a meme to rival "me voting in 2016 vs.me voting today".

Too Close was a bonus track on the Japanese version of My Everything.

Grande's rep then insisted the reports linking the LP to the singer were "incorrect", confirming the album was "not an Ariana release".

On Saturday night, in a masterful bit of pop-cultural tabloid-manipulating theatre, Ariana Grande released her new single "thank u, next," a sort of affectionate kiss-off to her various famous exes.

Breathin is from Ariana's fourth studio album, Sweetner, which was released on August 17, 2018.

She moved into more emotional territory as the song progressed, holding back tears while singing about her future wedding day.

"Even nearly got married/And for Pete I'm so thankful/Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm/Cause he was an angel".
