Early voting shatters records in New Mexico

More than 6.6 million voted early or voted by mail in the 2016 presidential election.

The secretary of state's office predicts turnout will reach 30 to 35 percent on Election Day.

Early voting turnout is on track to mirror what we saw during the 2014 midterm elections.

Yet election officials say it's not clear whether prepaid postage is driving increased turnout this year.

By comparison, 245,000 people voted early in the 2014 primary, which featured a contested U.S. Senate race and 235,000 people voted early in the 2015 gubernatorial primary.
