Google's Halloween Doodle Is An Addictive Multiplayer Game

On October 30th, Google shared a new Doodle on its homepage which features a game called The Great Ghoul Duel, and although it's relatively simple, it's surprisingly fun to play. Collected flames follow along behind you in a glowing trail, and if you pass through a member of the opposing team's trail you'll steal flames from behind the point you touched. Join in as ghosts around the world gather to play their own version of Trick-or-Treat: The Great Ghoul Duel!' the search engine wrote in a post.

The Halloween-themed multiplayer game allows you to invite up to seven friends via a custom link, or play along with randomly selected strangers across the world.

It's pretty impressive considering it's just a doodle, so head to Google.com and give it a try. You can do the same to the other team's players, and whichever team collects the most flames in two minutes wins. The former uses the mouse or arrow keys to move, and the latter uses a touchscreen joystick.

Trump says birthright citizenship will be ended
President Trump is arguing that birthright citizenship shouldn't apply to babies of parents in the United States illegally. And the US Supreme Court has upheld the citizenship of children born in the United States to immigrant parents.

The team built several systems to enable this multiplayer gaming, all running on the Google Cloud Platform, including a highly-scalable matchmaker service by Open Match, an open source framework developed jointly by Google Cloud and Unity.

There are different perks in the game like speed boosts, night vision, and other special powers that ghosts can unlock if they collect a large number of spirit flames at one go. At the start of a new game, click "Host Game".

The Google Doodle for October 30 celebrates Halloween. It is the first multiplayer game from the search giant.
