OnePlus 7 to be 5G, one of the first next year

"We definitely have 5G planned for next year", Pei boasted, adding: "We will be the first, if not one of the first partners with Qualcomm to commercially launch 5G globally". The company's co-founder Carl Pei took the stage at Qualcomm's event to announce that his company has already conducted a successful 5G test back in August and that it's ready to bring a 5G smartphone to the market very soon.

If OnePlus keeps up the naming of its flagship phones, that means we'll see the first 5G OnePlus device in either the 7 or the 7T. One of these two 5G smartphones could be launched by OnePlus.

During the Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit 2018, Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon and Carl Pei came together on stage to discuss their "5G leadership plans". OnePlus will be competing against the likes of Samsung and Huawei, among others with its developments towards 5G connectivity that could get its final shape in the coming months.
