Trump's Name Nixed From Another Manhattan Building

Trump's Name Nixed From Another Manhattan Building

A contentious and expensive fight over the future of a Trump-branded condominium on the Upper West Side ended democratically on Wednesday, with residents voting by a two-thirds majority to "remove the signage" bearing the president's name.

Another resident countered: "Arguably at one time the Trump name may have contributed something to the value of our apartments".

Owners in the 377-unit tower were anxious about the resale value of their condos and also raised concerns about security in condo meetings. This year, the board made a decision to ask a New York State Supreme Court judge whether they were required to keep the name in perpetuity under the agreement.

Associated Press New York City's 200 Riverside Boulevard at Trump Place, pictured, plans to remove President Donald Trump's name from its facade following a vote by residents. The board estimates it will cost $23,000 to remove the 20 letters from the building and wash the facade. "Our entire community has engaged in a thorough and respectful deliberative process regarding how to address the signage on our building". The Trump Organization still has a contract to manage the building until the end of 2019. She said the licensing agreement gives 200 Riverside the right but not the obligation to call itself Trump Place. It's joining three neighboring buildings in removing the Trump branding.

The decision to remove the signage at 200 Riverside Boulevard comes after the condo board asked a NY judge to determine if it had the right to remove the Trump Place signs.

This week's move to rid the condo building of the Trump nameplate follows a tooth-and-nail legal battle between the condo board and the Trump Organization.

But a judge ruled that the signs could be removed if residents agreed.

The others, Fahrenthold added, are three other "Trump Place" buildings in NY alongside Trump hotels in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan and those in Toronto and Panama.
