Half of all mental illness starts by the age of 14 with most cases undetected and untreated, according to the World Health Organisation's (WHO). According to a new report by World Health Organization, suicide is the second leading cause of death globally for young people aged between 15 and 19.

World Mental Health Day should give Indians pause for thought to consider what is a veritable public health crisis that - thanks to stigma - is brewing in silence.

She continues, "We teach teens how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental illness and how get help. and how we need to reduce stigma of mental illness".

"Much can be done to help build mental resilience from an early age to help prevent mental distress and illness among adolescents and young adults, and to manage and recover from mental illness". It is only when we understand the problem better that we will be able to solve it.
