Ryan Coogler inks deal to write and direct ‘Black Panther’ sequel

In news that is maybe not surprising but is supremely important, Ryan Coogler is returning to Marvel for Black Panther 2.

Coogler forever! As in Ryan Coogler, the 32-year-old wunderkind behind 2018's highest-grossing comic book movie - heck, highest-grossing movie, period - Black Panther.

The first of two films directed by Coogler raked in a whopping $700 million domestically, $1.3 billion in total, and is nearly assured of a place in the yearly "Oscar conversation".

The deal was slow in the making until recently, with Coogler being said to begin writing the screenplay next year with a production start in either late 2019 or early 2020.

Meghan Markle's Ex-Husband Trevor Engelson Has Engagement Party
The impact of the meeting was so great on Eugenie she phoned her mother, Sarah Ferguson , to tell her of momentous occasion. It is thought Princess Eugenie's wedding would not attract enough viewers to warrant a live broadcast.

Chadwick Boseman is expected to return in the starring role, as are others in the A-list ensemble. Marvel reportedly desired to keep the creative team behind the wildly successful first venture into Wakanda together for the sequel. Pitted against his own family, the king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and embrace his future as an Avenger. But we can always speculate, and the biggest questions we have right now are: when will it take place in the timeline of this reborn MCU, and which villain will Black Panther go up against?

The Coogler-helmed "Black Panther" is Marvel's highest domestic grossing film ever, earning just over $700 million in the US and $1.3 billion worldwide.

With T'Challa having fallen victim to Thanos' deadly finger-snap, Black Panther 2 remains in a curious position with no one now holding the mantle of Black Panther, though the events of Avengers 4 will likely have a large impact on the plot direction of the film.
