Louis Saha rips Paul Pogba for putting pressure on Jose Mourinho

Pogba has made no references to United in his media comments this week, but a former France World Cup victor has suggested he has been a little too vocal in his public comments this season.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba has said he has struggled to focus following France's World Cup win - but has insisted he can still lead the club despite being dropped from vice-captaincy duties.

Mourinho last month revealed Pogba would no longer be considered vice-captain of the club despite having already worn the captain's armband three times this season in the absence of Antonio Valencia.

"I think he has the ability to win [the Premier League]" said the Swede, speaking to BetHard. It puts pressure on the manager. "Whether it be "Grizou" [Antoine Griezmann], Kylian [Mbappe] or Raph [Varane], they deserve it a lot more than me".

"Surely sometimes football betrays you, I saw the match against Benitez's Newcastle and I saw a test of character by the team that can be a point of restart".

"I couldn't have done it without them".

The 37-year-old Swedish striker has scored 21 goals in 25 games for the LA Galaxy since leaving Manchester United in March 2018. "This is my opinion and I would have said that to him, I would say 'No, that's not something to say because you are not the manager'".

Despite taking on a key leadership role at the World Cup, a growing rift between Pogba and Mourinho saw the France global stripped of the United vice-captaincy last month.

"You don't have to be captain in order to speak, a leader is not someone who has the armband", he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. It is believed that Mourinho sees the former Barcelona striker as a leader who could transform the Man United dressing room with his presence.
