Air India flight hits airport wall before take-off

Chennai: A Dubai-bound Air India flight with 136 passengers on board hit the compound wall at the Trichy airport in Tamil Nadu on Thursday night.

The flight had got damaged under the belly and was declared fit for operations after inspection at Mumbai Airport. An alternate flight was arranged to take the passengers to Dubai.

A statement by Air India Express said an internal investigation into the incident has been ordered, and the pilot and co-pilot have been de-rostered until the inquiry is completed, ANI reported. "The pilot in command reported that the aircraft systems were operating normally", it said. The matter was conveyed to the pilot in command. 136 passengers and crew members who were on board are safe.

The flight later safely landed at the Mumbai airport at around 5.39 am where fire brigade and other departments were put on standby.
