Seahawks' Thomas to play, Cowboys want to resume trade talks

While the two sides have not spoken since before Thomas reported to the Seahawks to begin the season, there are several people inside the Cowboys organization who hope Sunday's game will serve as the impetus to begin conversations again.

The freakish week of Earl Thomas seems to have straightened out right in time for the Seattle Seahawks safety to suit up Sunday afternoon.

No final decision has been made yet on the fine, sources added.

The Seahawks have engaged in trade talks with teams, including the Cowboys, about Thomas, but the Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as a candidate if a deal is made before the October 30 trade deadline, sources said. Former Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard has called plays for the Dallas defense this year and he's a huge Thomas fan.

Environment Canada confirms Ottawa area hit by two tornadoes Friday
Meanwhile, electricity company HydroQuebec reported over 130,000 customers were without power in the Ottawa area Friday evening. The Ottawa Hospital said Saturday that two are in critical condition, one is in serious condition and the other two are stable.

At his press conference Friday, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Thomas missed practice due to a "personal issue" and his status for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys is in question.

The Cowboys represent a significant opponent for the Seahawks and Thomas, as they were connected in trade rumors this offseason. "Thomas in last season of 4-year $40 million deal, his second contract since he was a 1st rd pick". The franchise has prioritized contracts for DE Frank Clark & WR/KR Tyler Lockett (done).

The Dallas contingent arrived in Seattle with open ears about that possibility.

Thomas made it clear upon his return, however, that all was not forgiven - at least not on his end.
