Jane Fonda Speaks out on Plastic Surgery: 'I Wish I Was Braver'

Jane Fonda speaks to the audience at a special Q&A for her documentary Jane Fonda In Five Acts on Thursday (September 20) at The Pool Room at The Seagram Building in New York City.

Jane Fonda is opening up about her plastic surgery regret. "I would say that this is a woman who has led the way for six decades or more as a great actress, a great activist, [and] an extraordinary beacon for feminism.That's why it's called Jane Fonda in Five Acts". On Wednesday night, the 80-year-old actress talked to Stephen Colbert about "the bad thing I did", and said she still regrets it, reports Mediaite.

"I wish I was braver", the star remarked, but she is what she is.

"I'm glad I look good for my age, but I've had plastic surgery", she said. I love older faces. The star revealed that even at her age, she exercises regularly "just more slowly now", and is a fan of Pilates. I love lived-in faces. In 2015, she told The Guardian that she has "a fake hip, knee, thumb; more metal in me than a bionic woman", and that "the danger with surgery is you say: 'Oh this is good, let me do more.' It can be an addiction". I loved Vanessa Redgrave's face.

In a 2015 interview with The Guardian, the actress said she believes women's tendencies to go too far with surgeries are a outcome of early-life trauma. When you're young it can be [self harm] and when you're older it can be plastic surgery. But I am what I am, ' she admits.

Fonda divorced her third husband Turner in 2001 and said that while she found the billionaire sexy and brilliant, she knew she had to leave the marriage in order to really be authentic to who she is.
