Real Madrid's Mariano not weighed down by Cristiano Ronaldo's No. 7 shirt

Real Madrid's Mariano not weighed down by Cristiano Ronaldo's No. 7 shirt

"I'm happy to wear the No. 7 [shirt], following Amancio, Juanito, [Emilio] Butragueno and Raul. and since I was a kid, I've seen them play with him".

The number seven shirt has been synonymous with many Madrid greats - most recently Cristiano Ronaldo - but the striker insists it's an "honour" to wear it and not a burden.

Mariano netted five goals in 14 appearances in his first stint at the club before scoring 21 goals in all competitions with Les Gones during the 2017/18 season. According to recent reports, Neymar Jr. and Real Madrid have already agreed for a transfer before the next season.

Mariano, who returned to Madrid in August following a year at Lyon, has only one global cap to his name for Dominican Republic, whom he qualifies for through his mother. And Cristiano Ronaldo, of course. And I said: 'I like the No. 7'. If he asked me for the 7?

"I spoke with Julen Lopetegui two weeks earlier and he told me he wanted me to stay". Not bad but that there is pressure in wearing that number. "I'm not thinking about it [the pressure], just training every day to the maximum to be able to enjoy minutes".

#Zlatan500: Ibrahimovic joins Ronaldo and Messi in milestone club with outrageous goal
The stunning goal took Ibrahimovic's tally to 17 for the season, 11 adrift of MLS leader Josef Martinez. He also played for the Swedish worldwide team.

"I don't know if he understands me".

"He told me he'd love if I would come back and I told him the same and he explained everything to me".

"I had the option of going to Sevilla, Alaves or Levante", he said.

Al-Khelaifi continues that "Real Madrid would like Neymar, it's an attitude that we do not like at all that other clubs talk about our players".
