It was Ronaldo's fourth league match for Juventus since his €112m move from Madrid and he appeared relieved after breaking his duck in the 50th minute.

Ronaldo added a second 15 minutes later when he finished off a swift counterattack with a precise finish into the bottom right corner.

Ronaldo admits that the Champions League group Juventus have been drawn in is hard with Manchester United, Valencia and Young Boys but he says "it's the competition that I like the most and I hope we can a lot of luck in it." .

Bolstered by five-time victor Ronaldo, Juventus begin their quest for the Champions League title which has eluded them in two decades in Valencia next Wednesday.

The stunning goal took Ibrahimovic's tally to 17 for the season, 11 adrift of MLS leader Josef Martinez. He also played for the Swedish worldwide team.

"The Champions League is my favourite tournament", said Ronaldo. The former Real Madrid player not just opened his account for the Italian club, he even doubled his side's lead with another goal in the second half.

His barren run had stretched beyond the 300-minute mark during a goalless first-half at the Allianz Stadium, but he did not have to wait long to make his mark after the interval.

"Sometimes we can't control our anxiety, but I'm happy".

Juventus star Douglas Costa is expected to be hit with a hefty ban after headbutting an opponent and then spitting in his mouth during Sunday's 2-1 win over Sassuolo.
