Gunmen kill three in Mexico City plaza shootings

The report comes a day after witnesses said gunmen dressed as mariachi musicians opened fire with rifles and pistols in a plaza known for its mariachi bars.

Mexican authorities say four people have been killed and nine wounded in a shooting at the capital's emblematic Garibaldi Plaza, a popular spot for tourists. Many Mexicans wear mariachi costumes Saturday evening to commemorate the launch of the revolt against Spanish rule on September 16, 1810. A video posted to social media showed a musician at a colourful Plaza Garibaldi restaurant strumming Mexican tune "La Cucaracha" on a harp without pausing as multiple shots loudly ring out nearby.

Investigators later found 60 empty bullet casings on the ground.

The Mexico City prosecutors' office said at least one foreigner was among those wounded in Friday night's attack, which local media said was staged by gunmen dressed as mariachi musicians.

Curious onlookers gather on the perimeters of a crime scene after a shooting in Garibaldi Plaza in Mexico City, Friday, Sept. 14, 2018.

In fact, there's two things that the iPhone X has that the iPhone XR doesn't: 3D Touch, and a dual-camera setup on the back. That said, I absolutely love the color choices available on the iPhone XR right now.

"Nothing like this has ever happened before", said Samuel, a man who added that he had worked for thirty years around the square in one of the world's biggest, most populous cities, but declined to give his last name.

Two of the five people killed were women, and four of the victims were aged between 22 and 46 years old, according to officials.

Mexico City has a much lower murder rate than other violence-plagued regions in Mexico where drug cartels battle for control, but the number of murders has surged in the capital since 2014.

Plaza Garibaldi borders the notorious Tepito district, home to the violent La Union drugs gang. However, the government says at least one gang has links to a major national trafficking group, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
