'Friends' star Matthew Perry reveals three-month hospital stay following surgery

The former Friends star took to Twitter on Friday to reveal more about his recovery from a recent surgery, one month after his rep confirmed he underwent a procedure in a Los Angeles hospital to fix a gastrointestinal perforation.

He broke his silence on Friday night to reveal that he has been confined to a hospital bed for three months.

Last month, a representative said he under went an operation in Los Angeles and was "grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals".

Matthew Perry addressed his health problems yesterday while revealing to fans that he had been in hospital for a staggering three months.

He said,"Three months in a hospital bed".

A gastrointestinal perforation or ruptured bowel occurs when a hole develops in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and can be caused by illnesses such as Crohn's disease, colitis and appendicitis.

The onus is now on Chelsea and Watford to keep pace with Liverpool when they host Cardiff and Manchester United respectively later on Saturday.

This is not the first health battle Perry has dealt with, which he has shared publicly with his fans. "At Phoenix House, I was very moved by the hope that I saw there, which is what this is all about".

He has also spoken openly about his time in rehab two years later and described the experience of getting sober as "hard".

Perry was also given the Phoenix Rising Award in 2015.

"It's an exaggerated form of myself, but I am an open wound out there by the end of the play, that's for sure", he told ET of the play in April 2017. "Get well soon, Matthew".

Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the iconic US sitcom, would often turn up to work hungover, leading his Friends co-stars - including Jennifer Aniston - begging him to get help.

Alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, he became one of the most recognisable faces on TV. But no star from the original cast has made a commitment to one.
