Arsenal coast to win at Newcastle United

The German World Cup victor was left out the Gunners' 3-1 win over West Ham United last month, with reports claiming the pair were not seeing eye-to-eye.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has insisted that he shares a good relationship with Unai Emery following his side's 2-1 win over Newcastle United.

Both teams made a change at the back, with Clark having to replace the injured Jamaal Lascelles and Arsenal boss Emery opting to give Lucas Torreira 45 minutes in the spot of Matteo Guendouzi.

With half-time substitute Lucas Torreira pulling the strings, Ozil doubled their advantage as the Magpies wilted and it was not until a last-gasp barrage that Clark pulled one back.

"They (Arsenal) certainly deserved the win, they were much the better team in the second half".

"The difference that was he looked forward so quickly". Every time he got the ball his first thought was 'Can I move it forward?' and there was so much more movement ahead of him where there wasn't in the first half.

Arsenal still clearly need time to acclimatise to the demands of new manager Emery following the end of Arsene Wenger's near 22-year reign, but they secured victory with enough to spare to suggest they are heading in the right direction under the 46-year-old Spaniard, who himself put in a fair shift while patrolling his technical area with the kind of high-intensity effort he wants from his players out on the pitch. Arsenal have the ability in the final third to hurt teams, but so far this season they've often been too cautious, or too slow, to get the ball moving forward.

Emery shared those same feelings in his post-match interview after the game, although he admitted his side can improve on the performance.

"I'm sure lots of top clubs are monitoring the situation and are ready to poach him".

"In the first half we didn't have the control we wanted but in the second half we were better and this victory is useful for us".

"Every player works, not only the attacking players but also the midfielders and the centre-backs at set pieces".
