Alvarez beats Golovkin on points to take WBC and WBA middleweight titles

Somehow, the two most popular and dominant men in the middleweight division returned to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and found a way to match - if not exceed - the action of their previous affair.

With how close the first two fights were, and the amount of money that could be made from running it back a third time, it seems likely this fight will be made.

Two judges scored it 115-113 for Alvarez, with the third judge scoring it 114-114. Scores were 114-114, 115-113, 115-113 for Canelo.

Golovkin marked time with a stoppage win over Vanes Martirosyan and will head into the rematch eager to leave nothing to chance, having started sluggishly first time round.

"He's a great fighter but I'm a great fighter and I showed it tonight", Alvarez said after he claimed the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation belts.

The fight was a rematch of a draw last September that left neither fighter satisfied. A draw like many boxing writers had it.

NTSB: Pressure rise reported in Massachusetts gas pipeline
The governor and Columbia Gas of MA president Steve Bryant have quibbled over the utility's level of preparedness. There is no evidence at this time that anything nefarious contributed to the fires, Sumwalt said.

Golovkin fought Vanes Matirosyan as Alvarez's replacement in May and after stopping him in the second round, "GGG" set his sights on Alvarez once more.

"We knew the best way to beat him was to make him go backwards", Alvarez said. "Canelo fought a great fight". This time it was Golovkin who was upset, and he stormed out of the ring without talking.

"If the people want us to do it again let's do it again, " Alvarez said. "I thought I fought better than he did".

Golovkin was believed to have won the fight and the pair were due to face off again earlier this year, but Alvarez failed two drugs tests. We won this fight.

Conlan tweeted: 'I don't think it was robbery, had Canelo winning and I really wanted Triple-G to win. Every great fighter has a great rival.

While Golovkin's camp felt he had done enough to clinch victory, there was little sense of injustice following the fight.
