New Apple Watch Series 4 steals the show

The Cupertino giant has launched three new iPhones along with a smartwatch.

In the hand Gareth notes that it feels as an iPhone should, with curved edges, two speaker grilles at the bottom, and a glass back, but that it feels noticeably chunkier than the more expensive XS and XS Max handsets. One major upgrade is Apple's 7nm A12 Bionic, powering the trio.

The Apple Watch Series 4 will be priced at $399 for GPS-only, non-Cellular, and $499 for Global Positioning System and Cellular. pre-orders start September 14 and go on sale September 21.

In terms of price, the iPhone XR retails for less than the iPhone XS, costing $749 to pick up at launch.

And if you're interested - Optus customers who activate Optus Number Share for the first time on their Apple Watch Series 4 by 31 December 2018 will receive 12 months free Number Share access. This time, Apple won't ship any 3.5mm to lightning dongle align with the device.

Moving on to the iPhone XR's screen, TechRadar's Gareth Beavis reports that it is a 18:9, 6.1-inch LCD "Liquid Retina" panel, which is cheaper to make than the OLED panels fitted to the iPhone XS and XS Max. So take a look below if you want more details.

Release date: The iPhone XR will be available in three different variants - 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.

iPhone XS and XS Max will be available for pre-orders starting at 3:01 pm on September 14, Friday.

The third iPhone announced on Wednesday, the "affordable" iPhone XR, is coming a bit later; pre-orders start on October 19, and shipments will commence on October 26.
