The ban is the result of an executive order signed by city manager John Pedersen and issued pursuant to the city's State of Emergency that was declared september 9.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that Florence's maximum sustained winds had eased to 110 miles per hour (175 kph) and it had been downgraded to a Category 2 storm from Category 3 on the 5-level Saffir-Simpson wind scale.

"In collaboration with state emergency agencies and the Georgia Hospital Association, we are monitoring bed counts daily so that we can quickly and accurately assist with any necessary evacuations", said Sydney Walker, spokesperson for Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

"Ever stared down the gaping eye of a category 4 hurricane?"

Hurricane Florence is now expected to head more directly west after making landfall, crossing through SC.

Meteorology director Jeff Masters at the private Weather Underground says Florence will come "roaring up to the coast Thursday night and say 'I'm not sure I really want to do this, and I'll just take a tour of the coast and decide where I want to go inland'".

"Florence is intensifying", said North Carolina's Governor Roy Cooper, adding: "This storm is strong, and its gettings stronger".

Rather than pushing up toward western Virginia, the storm's center is now predicted to move across the middle of SC.

Man City break £500m income barrier
The Club enters its fourth consecutive year as a profitable business, posting a profit of £10 million. Pep Guardiola's side also became the first to achieve 100 points and score in excess of 100 goals.

Deal's declaration Wednesday covers comes as the National Weather Service's storm forecast shows a chance that Florence's track might turn toward the southwest as it approaches the Carolinas later this week.

In Virginia, 245,000 coastal residents were ordered to evacuate. "This will allow us to take care of our community and also be prepared should the need arise to assist others", Walker said.

"The time to prepare is nearly over", North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper told a morning news conference.

SC ordered the mandatory evacuation of one million coastal residents while North Carolina ordered an evacuation of the Outer Banks, barrier islands that are a popular tourist destination.

"A state of emergency has been declared for all 159 counties in Georgia in advance of Hurricane Florence impacts".

"The state is mobilizing all available resources to ensure public safety", Deal said. Up to 35 inches of rain could fall through early next week over parts of the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic states. Everyone in the Carolinas should continue to finalize their preparations for the storm Wednesday.

More than 1.5 million people have been ordered to evacuate along 300 miles of coastline.

Coastal residents have already started leaving the shores and heading west inland, but many are finding empty gas pumps as gasoline stations are sold out of gas.
