Mychal Kendricks agrees to one-year deal with Seahawks

Seattle plans to sign linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Seattle not likely to waste any time: Kendricks expected to play Monday night vs. Bears", Schefter tweeted Thursday evening.

Kendricks signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns in June after winning a Super Bowl title last season with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kendricks is the same player who pleaded guilty to an insider trading charge two weeks ago. The Seahawks don't seem to mind and just want to add talent where needed on their roster, so they're reportedly signing him. Kendricks' hearing on that matter is scheduled for January 24.

Kendircks used tips from an acquaintance to make about $1.2 million in illegal profits on four major trading deals, federal prosecutors said.

Kendricks, who was released by the Cleveland Browns immediately after his indictment on August 29, is considered as a better option than rookie Shaquem Griffin in the position.

Earlier reports on Thursday indicated Kendricks was in town on a visit.

Kendricks, 27, faces up to 25 years in prison for pleading guilty and could also be subject to discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy. He and Sonoiki were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and one count of securities fraud.
