Final Fantasy Is Coming To Nintendo Switch In A Major Way

During Thursday's Nintendo Direct stream, Nintendo and Square Enix announced that a total of eight Final Fantasy games would be coming to Nintendo Switch. Unbeknownst to Noctis, however, the journey ahead is fraught with perils...

Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD is out now.

Watch the launch trailer below. I for one am beyond relieve to see Square Enix finally supporting Xbox with their re-releases and remasters, and this certainly makes it likely the developmentally-challenged FF7 remake will come our way as well. Final Fantasy VII I specifically feel guilty for having never played and I'm excited to hopefully have time to dig into it next year on my Switch. X-2 Remaster, and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age will get ports for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One in 2019.

Multiple Final Fantasy Titles Announced for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One
In a bombshell of an announcement, a whole slew of Final Fantasy games will be heading to the Switch. The HD version of the iOS and Android game launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last week.

In addition to all the throwback gaming goodness, Nintendo also unveiled some throwback hardware: an updated, wireless version of the iconic old-school NES controllers.

The 35-minute presentation was bookended by two major new announcements for next year: Luigi's Mansion 3 and a new Animal Crossing, and you can read about them and all the other reveals here. World of Final Fantasy originally launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in October 2016, and for PC in November 2017.
