'Jason Bourne' TV Series 'Treadstone' Gets Straight-To-Series Order

USA Network has ordered the "Bourne" spinoff drama Treadstone straight to series. Heroes creator Tim Kring will write and executive produce the series with 99 Homes and Fahrenheit 451 filmmaker Ramin Bahrani executive producing and directing the pilot. Deadline first reported the news.

"As the #1 cable entertainment network for the past 12 years, USA Network is delivering a dynamic lineup of big, bold programming - and what could be bigger and bolder than the Treadstone mythology?" Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, told Deadline.

Researchers believe the findings help us better understand the link between "specific components of diet and long-term health". Participants filled out detailed questionnaires about their dietary habits - what foods, how much, how often and so on.

Treadstone is another step toward gritty television content for United States of America, which has pivoted from the frothy fare of Suits to critically acclaimed prestige shows like Mr. Robot and The Sinner. After giving it some thought apparently, USA Network has chose to skip that pilot business altogether and give Treadstone a full season. I hear the decision stems in large part from an global distribution deal UCP is negotiating with Amazon. Treadstone could follow a similar path to Syfy's Nightflyers, which is getting worldwide distribution via Netflix. It also comes from a proven TV creator/showrunner in Heroes' Kring. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the project has been given a full series order with production set to begin in 2019. There is no potential release date lined up yet. Treadstone has a vague enough title that it could be about anything, and Jason Bourne doesn't need to show his mug to get people to watch it. Richard Chamberlain also played the character in a 1988 miniseries based on "The Bourne Identity". The last go-around was 2016's poorly received Jason Bourne.

Bourne first appeared in a series of novels written by Robert Ludlum, with Matt Damon then playing the character in a successful film trilogy comprised of "The Bourne Identity", "The Bourne Supremacy", and "The Bourne Ultimatum". "It's really about the story, just like on this one, everyone said 'if you come to us with a good story, we'll think about it, '" Marshall said.
