Nintendo Switch Online release date just got narrowed down

In a press statement sent to Nintendo World Report among other outlets earlier tonight, the service was revealed to be launching in the second half of September (16th - 30th).

The wait was long for Nintendo Switch Online but its nearly here after numerous delays. While we're still in the dark to a specific release date, Nintendo has at least confirmed that the service is starting in the latter half of the month. One of those perks is access to a collection of classic NES games that have been updated to support online play. An additional 10 launch games will be announced in the future.

Subscribers will also be able to use Nintendo Switch mobile app features to "enhance their online experience" and receive special offers.

As you might expect some people are rather annoyed that online play, which is free at present, is going to be locked behind a paywall.
