Doom Eternal's impressive gameplay reveal rips and tears through everything


It was actually a series of debuts, with several extended gameplay clips showing off different parts of the game, and you can see them all in the video above starting at about the 1:16:20 mark. Wait, really? After all the ripping and...? You can even team up and form a slayer hunting party. Doom Eternal is directed by Marty Stratton, who also helmed 2016's Doom, and will feature upgrades for the protagonists including new guns and a tool that functions like Link's hookshot from The Legend of Zelda. Pain Elementals, Arachnotrons, and Arch-Viles are making their comeback in DOOM Eternal. We learned that a new Elder Scrolls was coming and got a screenshot, and that their first new IP in years was in the works and also got very little on that front.

Id creative director Hugo Martin observed on-stage that the Super Shotgun is like the Doom Slayer's "Excalibur" - his trustiest weapon. The overwhelming success of that effort has only amplified anticipation for the sequel, Doom Eternal.

Bethesda revealed the first gameplay footage from DOOM Eternal - their highly-anticipated sequel to 2016's reboot of the iconic first-person shooter franchise - during their keynote address at QuakeCon 2018 today (August 10th).

In a game design twist that riffs on the likes of Demon's Souls, the developers said you can take control of a demon and invade other player's games. DOOM Eternal will be launching on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch - there's no official release date yet, but we'll let you know when one is announced.
