Melania Trump’s Parents Just Became United States Citizens

First lady Melania Trump's parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, became USA citizens on Thursday, taking advantage of a program that President Trump has long railed against.

Melania Trump, who has been vacationing with her husband in Bedminster, New Jersey, did not accompany her parents.

The first lady's office declined to comment.

Melania Trump became a US citizen in 2006 after marrying Trump the year before.

He said the pair had been living in the USA on green cards sponsored by Mrs Trump.

When the Times asked Wildes if the Knavs obtained their citizenship through family-based immigration ― often pejoratively referred to as "chain migration" ― Wildes was vague. They would appreciate their privacy and we just thank everybody for their attention to this very important dialogue that we are having on immigration.

However, like the rest of their defensive targets, the Uruguay worldwide has proven to be out of reach. He said : "A bit more on that Manchester United move for Diego Godin ".

Viktor and Amalija Knavs had been living in the United States as permanent residents.

Wildes wouldn't comment on how the Knavs received their green cards or citizenship Thursday, but criticized the Trump administration's immigration policies to CNN. Green cards can also be obtained through employment, receiving asylum or refugee status, or in other special circumstances.

Their daughter, Melania, was raised under Communist rule in the town of Sevnica where her father worked as a vehicle dealer and her mom in a textile factory.

There has been speculation that the President Donald Trump's in-laws may have benefited from the "chain migration" process that he has claimed endangers Americans and vowed to restrict.

A source familiar with the situation told Yahoo News that the Knavses received their green cards before Trump was elected and that they were sponsored by their daughter.

The first lady, born Melanija, changed her name to Melania Knauss when she started modelling.
