Manchester United open talks with Chelsea for defender

It looks like Mourinho has moved on to another potential target as L'Equipe claim Manchester United have joined Everton in holding talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Kurt Zouma.

Zouma arrived at Chelsea in 2014, with a lot of excitement around his talent.

Everton are expected to announced the signing of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on Friday morning, with the Frenchman joining on a season-long loan.

Zouma subsequently missed almost one season of football before he made his return to the pitch.

Signed from Burnley last summer, the 25-year-old defender arrived at Goodison Park as a highly-rated player who had pushed his way into the England set-up but he has fallen down the pecking order in Gareth Southgate's squad in the past 12 months. And, Manchester United and Everton are interested.

His family said he was in town for his brother's wedding and trying to get a ride at the time of the incident. According to the New York Post , the charges could be upgraded.

Manchester United's eagerness to sign a centre-back this summer has been all too well known.

The Toffees left it late to make an approach to loan the France global but as both sides submitted their paperwork before the 5pm deadline, the deal was allowed to proceed.

Zouma spent last season on loan at Stoke City last term however, he was unable to save them from escaping relegation.

Chelsea's stance over the interest from Manchester United gives Everton a major boost to land him on a loan deal, with the Toffees going into overdrive on deadline day.
