James Bond Producers Interested In Idris Elba To Play 007

With Danny Boyle's James Bond 25 aiming for a November 2019 release, the earliest we might see James Bond 26 would likely be 2020, but probably much later - getting closer to Elba's 50birthday.

Anyone know how Stringer Bell likes his martinis?

They say that director Antoine Fuqua "revealed the details of a conversation with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, in which she said "it is time" for a non-white actor to take on the iconic role".

The article claims that Broccoli told Fuqua that "it is time" for a person of color to be cast in the role. "Fuqua discussed who might be next in the running with Broccoli, who's certain the progressive move "will happen eventually", with Idris Elba a reported frontrunner for the role".

News 4 learned that Cheatham was an employee at the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre. The children were described as three girls and one boy, between the ages of 5 and 12.

Elba's name has always been tossed around as an ideal candidate. There's also the fact that Elba plans to follow up his directorial debut Yardie with an amibitious adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as actor, director, producer and musician - so he may well be too busy for Bond.

Eon Productions, maker of the James Bond films, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. "The London-born actor, 45, has both the appearance (he's 6'3") and cool charm to pull off the role. You need a guy with a physically strong presence. (Current star Daniel Craig is 50.) This January, Elba suggested the Bond role could one day be played by a woman.

Universal Pictures also won the global distribution rights to the film, which will drop in the United Kingdom first on October 25, 2019.
