Everton have agreed to sign Barcelona's Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina for an initial 30.25 million euros (RM142.3 million) and have also taken the club's midfielder André Gomes on loan, the Spanish champions said on Thursday.

Manchester United is also eager to sign a center-back and had settled on Mina but the Red Devils have now shifted their focus to Leicester City star Harry Maguire.

Gomes and Mina could be registered in time to face Wolves in the Premier League opener this Saturday, but that game may come too soon for them as they look to bed in at Everton.

'It is important that the club want to fight for something, ' Mina told evertontv. It is the best league in the world.

Everton will pay Barcelona £2m for the season long loan and will also pay the player's wages. The Colombian defender completed a dream move to Barcelona in the January transfer window, but could never manage to establish himself as a regular in the first-team squad.

All of the Everton and Fulham dealings materialised close to the deadline, while the early stages of the day were dominated by Chelsea, who confirmed Mateo Kovacic's arrival after signing Kepa Arrizabalaga late on Wednesday.
