But his skills behind the wheel might need a bit more honing before his Anfield team-mates allow him to drive them forward off the pitch as well as on it.

Last season, City won the EPL title and finished top of the Premier League with a whopping 100 points, 19 more than second-place United.

And on Wednesday Pitt filed his own papers calling Jolie's claim "a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage". The docs accuse Angelina of filing papers with the court that are "calculated to increase the conflict".

Pep Guardiola has admitted that he would have liked to sign a holding midfield player to support Fernandinho, with the club having their long-term pursuit of Italian midfielder Jorginho hijacked by Chelsea.

"You also have to consider that Liverpool are City's Kryptonite".

"As with all these things, it's only when it comes upon people - but again it wasn't a unanimous decision to do it, so there's bound to be some dissent still around".

Tottenham have made no moves in the market but crucially they have kept hold of their key players, and the attacking combination of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli will relish the chance to shine at the club's new stadium, due to open in September.

"I think we are not going to make any more signings", Guardiola said on Sky Sports. "But there are other clubs who say they haven't got time and wish we hadn't chose to do it".
