Aerosmith’s original touring van discovered in the woods

Loudwire reports that the 1964 International Harvester Metro was found abandoned and dilapidated in the woods near Chesterfield in Hampshire County, Massachusetts - approximately 180 kilometres away from the band's hometown, Boston.

While there, they discover a broken down vehicle with flat tires, missing door and rusting paint. The band members rode in a funky 1964 International Harvester Metro van with a cartoon man and "Aerosmith" painted in bright colors across the side. The properties owner said that the vehicle was there when he bought the land from somebody who may have been connected with Aerosmith.

Wolfe and Fritz paid $25,000 to buy the van from its current owner, Wolfe referring to the purchase as "a piece of American rock'n'roll history".

Before they became a household name, Aerosmith was traveling in this van, which was recently discovered in a small MA town. "This guy is deep in the woods, he's off the grid, and I keep thinking to myself, 'what the heck would this van be doing here?'" Wolfe wonders as he and Fritz see the van for the first time.

Puerto Rico concedes Hurricane Maria deaths more than 1,400
The Puerto Rican government has admitted more than 1,400 people were killed in Hurricane Maria, far more than the previously reported official toll of 64.

Ray Tabano, who helped found the band and played rhythm guitar before being replaced by Brad Whitford in 1971, confirmed it was the van the rockers used in the 1970s. Tabano then apparently got a call from his old bandmate and made his way over to the farm to confirm its legitimacy.

"This is it, baby", the rocker exclaimed when he took a look inside of van, recognizing the carpet on the ceiling falling off, just as it was back in the day.

Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, hosts of the History Channel show American Pickers, found it in Chesterfield. He was able to provide the television show hosts with a photograph of him in the van, saying it was a reminder of the band's humble beginnings.

Aerosmith was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
